CLAIMS FARMING SPOOFING ATTACK

Claims farming is the process of canvassing people to press them into instigating a claim on an insurance scheme. It is difficult to control because you don't often know the origin and credentials of the person randomly calling you. Yesterday several people in my office were phone spoofed, simultaneously receiving random phone calls to their unpublished telephones lines from people demanding that they must report to them the details of the accident. The callers were quite intimidating in their demands. Unfortunately for the unwelcome callers they were speaking to solicitors and the callers received short shrift. Each of the callers called from a mobile number and when we attempted to call the number back it registered as out of order (known as phone spoofing). I strongly urge members of the public, if you receive these type of calls not to provide your private details and to report the calls to the Motor Accident Insurance Commission at https://maic.qld.gov.au/contact-us/claim-farming/
